The Katsina State Government has confirmed the suspension of a former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Community Development to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Nura Aliyu-Garwa, over his alleged connection to a kidnapping syndicate linked to the abduction of an eight-year-old boy in Katsina metropolis.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr Bala Salisu-Zango, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Monday in Katsina.

According to the statement, Aliyu-Garwa had been suspended from office before declaring his intention to contest for a seat in the Katsina State House of Assembly representing Batsari Constituency.

The government stated that the former aide was earlier suspended over allegations bordering on the diversion of empowerment materials meant for distribution to communities in Batsari Local Government Area under the state’s Community Development Programme.

The statement further revealed that Aliyu-Garwa is among suspects allegedly linked to the kidnapping syndicate involved in the abduction of an eight-year-old boy at Sardauna Estate in Katsina metropolis.

It recalled that the Katsina State Police Command had earlier paraded suspects connected to the alleged criminal network.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the incident as unfortunate, particularly considering the suspect’s previous role in government and political aspirations.

The governor commended the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their sustained efforts in combating insecurity and criminal activities across the state.

He also called on residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious movements and activities.
